Peninsula Children’s Center is looking for teachers who love children and are committed to supporting their growth and development to join our teaching team. We currently have several openings for on-call Substitute Teachers. Requirements for the positions include:

  • A positive attitude
  • Good work ethics and consistent attendance
  • Demonstrated understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practices
  • Ability to work well with diverse populations
  • A high school diploma or GED
  • At least one year of relevant work experience or practicum
  • Ability to sit, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to quickly move around a classroom or playground
  • Ability to physically move, lift, or control children in unsafe or emergency situations
  • Ability to read, write, and understand verbal and written English
  • Ability to maintain educational/training hours as outlined by state licensing agency and center
  • Ability to successfully complete a criminal history background check
  • CDA, AA, or BA in Early Childhood Education or closely related field and a Step 8 or higher on the Oregon Registry is preferred.

New Head Preschool Position Available Now

We are opening a new half day preschool program in early October and are looking for a dynamic, experienced head teacher to lead this new class. The ideal teacher will love children and be committed to building strong relationships as the basis of supporting the student’s growth and development. He/she will also have a firm understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate, constructivist, project-based curriculum and demonstrated ability to implement this in classroom settings. Strong ability to work positively with parents, co-workers, and diverse populations is also required.

Compensation: $12-13 per hour

Hours::  20 hours per week

Requirements for the positions also include:

• AA or BA in Early Childhood Education or closely related field and/or a Step 8.5 or higher on the Oregon Registry with college work in Early Childhood Education
• Good work ethics and consistent attendance
• Ability to speak, read, write, and understand verbal and written English
• Demonstrated ability to observe and document children’s learning
• Basic computer skills to keep online assessments
• Good organizational and record-keeping skills
• Ability to sit, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to quickly move around a classroom or playground
• Ability to physically move, lift, or control children in unsafe or emergency situations
• Ability to maintain educational/training hours as outlined by state licensing agency and center
• Ability to successfully complete a criminal history background check
• Current First Aid/CPR and Food Handlers Cards
